By harmonizing these initiatives, the maritime industry not only contributes to international GHG reduction targets but also aligns with regional strategies for a more sustainable future. The implementation of methanol and ammonia technologies, endorsed by both the IMO and EU, showcases a commitment to innovation and environmentally conscious practices, reinforcing the collective effort to address climate change and reshape the future of maritime transportation. In this presentation, existing technologies for methanol and ammonia applications, as well as those under development, are briefly described and analysed, in order to quantify their potential contribution to the IMO and EU ambition levels.
