Furthermore, the industry is collaborating on new regulatory frameworks to lower emissions, such as the International Maritime Organization’s Energy Efficiency Design Index, mandating more efficient ship designs. Although reaching net zero emissions in maritime transportation is challenging, the ongoing commitment to new technologies and regulations makes it an attainable goal. The sector’s proactive approach signifies a pivotal shift towards more sustainable maritime practices.
